Widowmaker was the band that I started when I returned to Fallon after Phoenix. I'm still looking for some pictures from then. So far all I found were these two of me. This was about December of 1983. The members were:

DK-Lead Guitar
Steve Schott-Lead Vocals & Guitar
Jeff Hansen-Bass
Jeff Seaters-Drums
John Johnson-Keyboards

I arrived back in Fallon, Nevada in October of 1983. The first part of my plan was to drill the new band every day...7 days of week. We worked hard playing at least 4 hours a day, every day. We made a setlist and practiced it until we could play the songs in our sleep. I was so proud of these guys.

The second part of the plan was to play at the Junior High (then EC Best) and then the High School (now the Old HS) in the pit area. This way all the kids of Fallon would see us and then we could start getting gigs. We played for free during the lunch hour at ECB on Dec 14th, 1983. Here is a picture from that gig.

It went over great! There was a a little girl in the audience that day that saw us play and was blown away the a real Metal band could be playing at their school. I didn't know she was out there but 14 years later I would end up marrying, Caryn!

Two days later on Dec 16th, we played at the High School and just killed! The next week we played a beer party and those three gigs cemented our reputation as the local bad-boy-band in town!

Here are a few pictures of us when we volunteered to play at the Fallon National Guard Armory for some telethon to raise money for something or somebody. We didn't care where we played...we just wanted to play.

A funny story about that gig...Sandy was my girlfriend at the time and her mom did not want us hanging out together as she thought I was a bad influence (Hey, I turned out alright!) We had to sneak around so we wouldn't get caught but then we found out the whole gig was videotaped to be played on the local TV station. We were both on the tape but never seen 'together' so never did get in trouble for that one. That tape exists out there but I've never seen it.

John Johnson dropped out soon after that. Steve Schott left a few months later because his wife, Kristy, didn't like the fact that their friends were making fun of him for growing his hair long.

...with his 'too long' hair!

Around this time I moved to Reno to find some employment. While looking through the paper I saw an ad for a singer. I went to visit him and he was this goofy looking dude who said he was a drummer but now he wanted to sing. I had my doubts but called up the rest of the band and told them I had a new singer. He said his name was Jim Garrett, (so I still call him Jim even though he now goes by Jaime Garrett.)

The band  consisted of DK on guitar, Jeff Hansen on bass, Ed Sabota on drums and Jim "Jaime" Garrett on vocals. After only a few practices, we played a 4th of July gig at Oats Park in Fallon, We were late to the gig and we had no where to dress...I remember we all scattered to different houses around the park, thankful for the generosity of strangers.

We made it onto the stage just in time! I remember it was so hot! I remember walking off of the stage after our show and throwing up because I was suffering from a heat stroke. I was laying on the grass in the shade behind the stage trying to cool off when my then girlfriend walked up to me and said she wanted to break up.

"OK", I said and threw up again. Ahh...good times!

Soon after this we found out that the name WIDOWMAKER was taken by a band from England which featured Bob Daisley, Ozzy Osbourne first bass player. Because I wanted to keep something close to Widowmaker, I thought of Whyte Widow. My thought was just like a black widow spider...but white...and spelled different. The guys like it, and off we went...
